Observing Classes

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will provide classroom observations for any university teacher. An initial appointment is required prior to the actual classroom observation, at which time the following will be discussed:

• Goals and focus of the observation sessions; either specific behaviors of students or faculty
• Plan for the observation and format of report; forms and format may be provided by either the faculty or Center staff member
• Observations of the class or classes; two sessions are advised - an initial observation and a follow-up visit

Observations are private with only the teacher and the observer involved. All reports and materials are given to the teacher.
